We prioritize nutrient density and biochemical individuality. We teach our students to know which foods are highly reliable sources of essential nutrients and how those nutrients interact within the human biochemical environment. Layered on top is the recognition that certain foods may be more or less beneficial for each individual based on their unique biochemistry. The result is an ability to make adjustments in food recommendations that match a person’s particular needs and goals.
We recognize the nutritional benefits provided by all different types of foods and our curriculum encompasses a variety of views on which diet plan to follow based on one’s wellness ambitions.

We believe that learning multiple viewpoints from a scientific standpoint will allow our students to be critical thinkers and form their own opinions.  Our hope is that by focusing on a strong science foundation, students will graduate with the necessary tools to understand the application of many different philosophies.

NTI is approved and regulated by the Colorado Dept. of Higher Education Division of Private Occupational Schools (DPOS). DPOS assures the student that the Institute has an approved program of study, operates on a sound financial basis, has qualified instructors, approved recruitment and admissions policies, and promotes its courses truthfully.

NTI is approved by the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP). The NANP is the only professional business league, wholly dedicated to furthering the cause, education, and standards of the holistic nutrition industry. Approval from NANP ensures that we meet high academic standards set for the field in which we participate – holistic nutrition. NANP’s approval process requires that we undergo rigorous curriculum evaluation every five years to maintain the designation of NANP Anchor School, which is the highest stamp of approval.

NTI is bonded in compliance with the State of Colorado.  NTI holds a surety bond that protects students against loss of unearned tuition fees should the school cease operations.

Students usually take 1-3 years to complete the program as everyone moves at their own pace.

There are 13 courses required to complete the NTMC program, and each course is 10 weeks long (plus one 20-week course). If studying full-time (i.e. taking 2 courses at once) as a Group Start Online student, the program can be completed in 18 months. We call it 'full-time', but many students are able to work full-time jobs while taking 2 courses at a time. As a Group Start student, you take courses with the term start dates, there’s a week break between terms and a longer summer break.

Some students take more than 2 courses at a time to finish the certification faster. OR they complete courses as an Independent Start online student, meaning they can move through the curriculum faster. As an Independent Start online student, you do not have to take breaks between terms or take a summer break, plus you can finish courses in faster than 10 weeks. This allows you to finish in closer to 1 year.

The online group start format follows the term schedule and serves those wanting to be with a group of classmates and have weekly meetings with instructors.

In the independent start format, you would move through the course material on your own but your instructor would be available for support and giving feedback on your assignments and exams.

You can even do a hybrid approach throughout the program - take some courses as group start, and others independent start.  We offer the flexibility that enables you to fit going to school into any lifestyle.

You can start any time by taking your first course(s) in the Independent Start format. 

If you’d like to start as a Group Start Online student, we offer 4 terms per year— spring, summer, fall, and winter. You may start the program any term.

Yes! Interest-free payment plans are available to break up the course tuition into up to 4 payments.

NTI is a pay-as-you-go school, meaning students only pay for the course(s) they are enrolled in. There are no deposits, down payments, or finance charges.
