Heart Rate Variability, The Cardiac Brain, and Managing Stress
Presented by Kimsey Self
Thursday, Sep 30th, 5-7pm (MDT)
Traditionally, the heart has always been viewed as a mechanical pump that is controlled by the brain, responsible for circulating blood throughout the body. However, emerging research is now revealing that there is actually another “brain,” referred to as the “cardiac brain,” within the heart that is capable of releasing neurochemicals and hormones and functioning independently of the brain to affect our physiology.
Managing stress is a foundational pillar of health and wellness, and as nutrition therapists, we need to have an effective and reliable tool for helping our clients reduce stress. Research continues to prove the reliability of Heart Rate Variability as an objective assessment of autonomic balance, and heart rate variability biofeedback training as an effective tool for improving stress resiliency.
In this lecture, Kimsey will dive deep into the functions of the cardiac brain and HRV and will provide valuable information about the application of HRV training in the clinical setting. If you’re looking for more reliable ways to improve your and your client’s resiliency to stress, autonomic balance, and feelings of positivity, clarity and focus, you don’t want to miss this seminar!
